Over it, a little...

He looks a little odd here, but I took the picture because he put Daddy's hat on- all by himself!

Lookin' good, with Liger.

Messing with Daddy

I have a diaper! On my head!

And a swim diaper! On my head!

He's been doing this thing where he eats Cheerios like a dog- he puts his tongue out and grabs 'em.

I SWEAR I do laundry all the time, but he's pretty much always drooly and slimy.

Sitting on his lunchbox, reading a book... He LOVES to read. Every time I sit on the floor, he grabs a book and comes running over to plunk himself on my lap.

Lovin' with Mommy... He likes to pull my shirt up so he can stick his finger in my bellybutton. I hate it. However, it cracks him up, so really? Who am I to say no?

The reason I'm "Over it, a little" was that I had a random comment from someone I don't know, and realized that this blog has a larger following than I realized. Kinda freaked me out. I mean- this is my life, and my CHILD out there for every random person who happens along to see. But, only a few of you know where we live, and I love you all- so I'm over not posting. Well- for that reason. Being busy is my other excuse.

Anyway...

Jackson is almost a year and a half old- how did that happen? Everyone says it goes so fast, and they are right. I was deleting some old pictures from my camera (full memory card) that were from 4 months- he was so tiny! Now he runs everywhere, has a very (even more every day) distinct personality, and has all these teeth... He's been walking around with a very serious expression on his face and his hands clasped behind his back- his Grampa Wayne calls him Inspector Gadget Perkins :) He likes to sit on the couch and watch the news. He loves bath time but hates having his hair washed. He hated swimming lessons the first day and laughed hysterically through the next five sessions. He has this belly laugh that makes even the worst day disappear in seconds. He LOVES being outside and will bring you first his shoes, then yours, and if that doesn't work will find any article of outdoor clothing and shove it at you until you agree that really, it would be a good idea to go play in mud puddles and run up and down the ramp to the shed. He loves books, he gives the sweetest kisses I have ever gotten (also the most slimy). He steals my heart more and more every day, and gives me a reason. For everything.
I started a part time job for a bit- for a little extra (what's extra these days) money. I really don't like it, but have been pushing through for a couple months. Recently, a very good man- a very well known man around town- and a friend, was killed on the water. It made me think- what if something were to happen to me? Derek? Anyone I spend a lot of time with? And realized: Life is too damn short. Too short to do something you hate, for a pittance, when you could be spending time with the people you love. I wasn't putting Jackson to bed at night, I was only seeing my husband on weekends. Seriously? Self? What the heck. So I gave notice. It's almost time to start up at Rock Gardens again, I love it there and have a great schedule. Think about this- while money is a necessity, weigh the pros and cons... Life is short and family is everything.

On a much happier note, my best friend is having a baby soon!! I went to her shower today and came home to announce that I need another child. Now. Derek was good enough to point out that we don't have the space, and that we've agreed to wait a bit, but it was amazing to feel that Mommy urge! Speaking of Derek, I'm going to go hang out with my hubby and watch a movie- have a fabulous night, all!
